Plenty of patina left to shine up. Inside locket still has the clear plastic to go over picture, on one side. Other side is missing. Both sides have thin piece that holds pictures in, very delicate. Sometimes the heart doesn't stay snapped close, but if you hold it a minute it stays. I am not a jeweler so I won't be messing with it. Very cool piece of history.
